Nominations for VANTAGE SOAR Awards are Open!

The VANTAGE SOAR Awards are presented each May to individuals and organizations who improve the lives of seniors in Summit County. We are currently accepting nominations in 7 categories until January 1, 2019.

Do you know someone who should be celebrated for helping older adults?

You can nominate yourself, an organization you work for, a senior living facility, business, city, or someone in Summit County who is helping seniors to age positively with independence and dignity. 

Don't wait until time runs out to vote - The top 3 nominees in each category are invited to a special night at The Tangier where they will enjoy dinner and be recognized with a chance to take home a one-of-a-kind award.

We're Partnering with Summit Co. DJFS to Help Seniors Understand SNAP

Senior SNAP benefits offer nutrition assistance to eligible, low-income seniors. With funding from the National Council on Aging, Summit County DJFS and VANTAGE are providing information on SNAP benefits and other senior services at events across Summit County through 2020. Contact VANTAGE to ask about hosting an event.

The first Seniors, Sandwiches & SNAP event is Dec. 12 at 11:30 at the Green Library. Register for Free

 

Be a Holiday Buddy

Do you know an older adult who could use a friendly voice? Holiday Buddies matches seniors with a friendly voice through our RSVP Telecare phone reassurance program. We're currently looking for RSVP volunteer callers (age 55 and older) and individuals who want to receive phone calls.

On-the-Job Experience

On-the-Job Experience (OJE) is part of the Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP). The OJE program aims to help older adults age 55 and older find unsubsidized employment. Businesses and organizations on board OJEs during a training period prior to hiring.

Small Gifts, Big Impact

Often, small supports are the only thing keeping a senior at home. As we enter the giving season, please consider taking a moment to help a senior age in place with dignity. Our RSVP Volunteers had a chance to meet our new Manager of RSVP, Erica Banks. There were some great conversations about volunteerism and ways to better the community.
